Culinary Vitality by the Waters

Our Story

At Talia, we believe that food is more than sustenance—it’s a pathway to vitality, connection, and joy. Our story is one of passion, expertise, and a deep commitment to nourishing both body and soul.

The Name

Talia, meaning “by the water” and “gentle dew from heaven” in Hebrew, perfectly embodies our restaurant’s essence. Nestled among Murrieta’s historic hot springs, Talia pays homage to the healing waters that surround us and the rejuvenating experience we aim to provide through our cuisine.

But Talia represents more than just our location. It symbolizes our role as a gathering place, where the community comes together to share meals, stories, and create lasting connections. Like gentle dew nourishing the earth, we aim to nurture our community through food that revitalizes and unites.

Executive Chef Matt Steffen

With over two decades of culinary expertise, Chef Matt Steffen brings a wealth of knowledge and creativity to Talia’s kitchen. His journey began at the California Culinary Academy, followed by roles at prestigious establishments like the Ritz-Carlton. Matt’s passion for farm-to-table cuisine and sustainable practices shines through in every dish he creates.

Chef Matt’s approach to cooking is deeply rooted in his respect for ingredients and the stories they tell. He believes in honoring the hard work of local farmers and artisans by crafting dishes that showcase the natural flavors of each element. His culinary style blends classic techniques with innovative twists, always with an eye toward nutrition and wellness.

At Talia, Matt has found the perfect canvas for his culinary artistry. He delights in creating seasonal menus that not only tantalize the taste buds but also support the body’s natural vitality. His commitment to sustainability extends beyond the plate, influencing everything from kitchen practices to menu design.
